APSA Asia-Pacific Strategic Assessment

Expert Network

A distributed network of specialists and practitioners.

APSA's research draws on the judgment of people who work on the region every day. The Expert Network is how we find them, hear from them, and keep the conversation going.

The Network

What the network is

The Expert Network is a geographically distributed group of specialists who advise APSA's research on a per-engagement basis. Members include former officials and policy practitioners, defense professionals, academic researchers, and industry specialists working in supply chains, energy, and technology.

The network is deliberately informal. There is no membership roster, no subscription, and no standing obligation. Experts engage only on the topics they choose to discuss, when they choose to discuss them.

Participation

What participation involves

Consultations

Structured conversations with our research team, typically 45 to 60 minutes, scheduled at the expert's convenience. Most engagements take this form.

Written exchange

Short written responses to specific research questions, for experts who prefer to contribute in their own time.

Assessment review

Occasional invitations to comment on draft analysis within the expert's field, before publication.

Engagements are compensated. Terms are straightforward and agreed in writing before any engagement begins, and each engagement is a discrete piece of work: experts are never asked to commit to anything beyond it.
